It was curious how she always ended up in random places, but here she was again; another random place, another random time. She stood outside of Club Republica having found a door that interested her. It apparently led out of the club. She stood now in the allies behind the club, still able to hear the deep bass thrum of the music still being spun from within. Of course, having found where it led, Catalypse had turned to try and pry the door open again, but not having superhuman strength, she couldn't open it... unless she completely destroyed it. And it was such a pretty door...

She giggled at the door before turning to look at the rest of her surroundings. There were a few garbage bins to her left, there were a few garbage bins to her right... ‘Hmmm,’ so which was out? ... She looked up to the sky above, and the fire escapes and the roof ledges. She could always fly out, but Mama had told her no more flying in the city. She was drawing too much attention. But surely no one would see her from this deep in the allies. They were like a maze, they were. She sighed and shoved her hands into the cargo pants’ pockets, and glanced once more, left then right. She gave a huff, then shut her eyes tightly, and spun around in a circle before walking definitely to the left. She opened her eyes as she started to meander.

She did love adventures, and this was sure to be one filled with rats and fun-time, but as she walked, she found no rats, and she found no fun-time. She was starting to think her feet had taken her in the wrong direction when suddenly she spotted the cars zipping back and forth at the end of the alley to her left. She gave a happy little trill and started to skip towards the opening...

Something gave her pause, though; a man was setting forth out of a door just a few feet ahead of her. He was a mean-looking, big ole black man. ‘Night skin’, she called them normally. She halted her progression swiftly and tilted her head; cascades of autumn red hair fell around her should, and long bang's before her eyes. She blinked her amber eyes and the pupils widened to appear more human. This did leave her vision blurry. She gave a little growl in her disgruntled mood.

The man turned to face her, his head tilting to the side as he started to saunter toward her.

"Well, well... You must be the new girl I keep hearing about, sugah... How about you come here with that fine *** and taste some of this...." He was walking funny, Cat thought. And ‘new’ ? No, she wasn't new here... She was quiet old, in fact. Or at least that was what Mama seemed to think. She stood her ground with a quizzical look as the man finally came right up on her.

He stopped to eye her over and then lashed out and back-handed her. Cat's face turned to the side and she stumbled a little in the direction his hand had swung, hair fully covering her face now as warmth heated her cheeks. Her pupils retracted as he said, "Show some respect, ho... I aint payin’ u to stare..."

A deep, gravelly growl rolled up from the depths of Catalypse's stomach to spill from between parted, rose-soft lips; her amber-yellow cat eyes glaring from amongst the autumn fire that was her hair. She slowly stood tall again, and one hand slipped to the small of her back while the other ran up to her shoulder to touch two separate places, activating the shields that kept her ...extra appendages concealed. The sound of skin tearing and bones crackling started from behind Cat as she looked up at the man before her. She gave a vicious little smile; a spread of such delicate features to reveal the demon within. Razor-sharp teeth glittered in the dimly lit alley, and the man took a hesitant step back.

It was too late to run... Cat let out a feral, hissing scream that sounded very much like that of a mountain lion just as her wings and tail burst forth, her over-shirt falling as frayed cotton as she leaped at the man. Her body crashed into his with grace, and down they both went.

The man was pushing her back as her teeth made sweet snicker-snack sounds so very close to his face. It took her only moment to realize that she wasn't getting anywhere trying to bite him because of his long arms pushing her away from him, his feet kicking helplessly as she straddled him. But when she moved back to swat his hands away, he threw a vicious punch to the right side of her face. His knuckles crunched as they met with bone and knocked her back enough to place a firm kick into her chest. She sailed back and into a pile of trash, landing on her back and knocking the air from her lungs.

"WHAT THE **** ARE YOU?!" the man screamed as Cat recovered, her eyes snapping back into focus as she slowly sat up and giggled. Her voice purred and radiated with power as she said one single phrase. "Let me play with you...." Her voice seemed to stop the man dead in his tracks; her voice wrapping around the consciousness of his mind and sinking fangs into his subconscious to make him think she was but a child so innocent she only wanted to play.

Cat slowly moved from sitting to a low crouch as she sang again, "Why would you run? There is no reason to run; .... only to scream...” and as soon as she said that, the man looked in utter horror and screamed at the top of his lungs. "That's better," she purred and flew at him, again tackling him to the ground as he wailed and hollered; her teeth slashing through his neck while her claws dug into his chest, the sweetness of blood tingling on her tongue while the squish, squish of his inner organs made her simply giddy. But hold on.. . This was fun-time...

She sat up, soaked in blood and gore, and swallowed and then said, "Mama is going to be mad... "

Auz was up on yet another rooftop, enjoying the air and sky, the glow of the city from the bellies of lazily passing clouds, and the dull, muffled sounds of a metropolis still at play. Though he knew it was full to the brim with the humanimals he had spent so much of his life hunting, being slightly detached and disassociated, as well as elevated from it all, left him feeling rather contented. What an odd duality. And then he heard the scream.

Bolting upright from his prone position between the metallic constructs of an air conditioning unit and a small, cylindrical water tower, he looked in the direction that the distressed sound had come from, still hearing its faint echo off the nearby brick and mortar facades. 'A huuuman is suffering...' he thought with great enjoyment bubbling forth from deep within. He could tell from the vocal signature that it was probably just a regular one, mixed breed, predominantly African-American.

In a flash, Auz was up and quietly jogging in a serpentine around all of the other rooftop structures, leaping from one level to the next, and daring to cross even some of the narrower alleyway gaps and pitfalls. A conversation slowly faded into the range of his hearing, and he slowed down to a creep, bending forward about his waist, and ended up crawling on hands and knees the last few feet to the ledge.

He desperately wanted the joys of finding another hunter of 'men hard at (and enjoying) their work, and to spectate as the demonic beast (that is: the human) was decapitated, disemboweled, and hopefully much, much worse. But something told him to sit tight, and he instead opted to peak through the low-situated, rectangular, rain drainage slot built into the brick ledge. Catalypse and her prey came into view...

Cat sat, momentarily staring as what she had done sank in. Was it wrong for her to feed? Mama would understand, right? She gave a vicious little growl and looked down at her talons; their points permanently stained red from all those she'd slain in her previous lives. But now she looked at them in a whole new light. She was used to hunting, she was used to slaying. Something that had not once crossed her mind. She was purely a creature of whim. She would do things with the slightest of impulses to push her. So why should she care? She'd never truly had emotional ties to anything, or really felt the truth of emotions other than glee, and anger.

She sat back on the now-corpse beneath her, and tilted her head to the side. Something about the way this man had hit her made her angry. Why would he do such a thing... She knew that had Guin been here, she would have shot him point-blank for fucking with her. Or maybe tied him up so she could play with him longer.

Something about this position though; the way she straddled him in a low crouch, the set of her wings and the curve of her whip-like tail with feathered ends brushing the street behind her, it was all so very, very familiar. And as if muscle memory cued her mind to search for real memories, she felt her eyes dilate as she remembered a different time in a different place. She shivered and something inside her snapped. Cat's eyes refocused and she looked down at the person before her. She gave a little purr and started to consume parts of his neck to reach the blood she so wanted. No, she was not a vampire, but blood had always been her favorite part of her meals.

She sat up again and licked the leftover blood that spread around her lips, her pupils wide while she enjoyed the warm stickiness of it. Her palette stated, she caught the scent of something new in her little alley. Her pupils again refocused sharply, and her talons sunk deep into the corpse of the man beneath her, her wings popping open and her face whipping around to stare up at the peeking area of Auz. She glared at him at first, purely feral in all ways until she realized he was not after what was hers. He was simply watching. A slender brow arched delicately as her head tilted gently to the side.

Her lips moved in motions of words, but no sound came from where she was. The voice of an angelic whisper brushed Auz from behind as if she stood behind him whispering into his ear.
"Hello." The flux in her voice was obvious, but not asking anything of him; simply a greeting; one that would portray her as an innocent little angel, even though the opposite was very much obvious beneath her crouched form.

When Cat turned around, easily detecting and locking on to him, his eyes flashed with wild, childish excitement, and he felt the adrenalin surge through his fingers and toes. An audible breath was finally allowed to enter and exit him, as he huffed down out of his nostrils like a proud and defiant steed impatiently waiting to gallop full-trot. Like an eagle's, his eyes pierced the distance between them and focused on her as if to peel away her layers and count the very hairs on her head.

And then he heard her behind him, as if she had superhuman ventriloquist powers. "Hello." Canting and pivoting his head slightly and appreciatively so that his ears might be closer to the sound of her voice, he kept his fiery yet amicable gaze affixed deeply within her own eyes. He saw her lips move in perfect synchronization with the word that had resounded craftily just offset to his anterior. Its quality was arousing, albeit mostly due to the fact she had just slaughtered someone.

Auz was mesmerized by her height, color scheme, and vicious femininity, as well as the accents her extra-sapien features complimented her with. She was a little on the old side for his tastes, even as she appeared in her early to mid twenties, but otherwise she was intriguing, and after seeing her accomplished kill, he was willing to intoxicate himself under her aesthetic hypnosis.

Rising from his hide, he exposed his commanding frame with regal posture and let the wind catch and toss his thick mane of earth tones; his mustache and long goatee swaying with it. Wearing a matte black, long sleeved, jogger's suit neatly fitted to his body, and a pair of Nike Free 7.0s, he could have passed for the average fitness enthusiast, or a well known musician trying to blend in. Such could not be further from the truth.

Placing one opening hand palm to his lower abdomen, and letting the other flow out to his side, hanging from an arm extending to a slight angle, he bowed graciously without taking his dark brown, surgical orbs off of her amber ones. Returning to his kingly stance atop the roof and by its ledge, he addressed her in a voice that was otherworldly musical, refined, and somewhere between tenor and baritone, just above a whisper likely only she could hear.

"Hello, fair maiden of the hunt and this night. Merry meet. Your eyes suggest daemon or Naga, your height: nymph or faerie, your ear lobes: elf, your wings: angel or mothman, and your vocal qualities: Siren. Quite the perplexing gem I have found you to be. Your sensory perception is astute, I must also share of note. I am Auzdein von Schäfer. I should like to join the lady, if she is so inclined. How might I address you, noble huntress?" His tone was genuine, sincere, reverent, while his accent casually flowed back and forth amongst a dozen locales. At this point, he wanted nothing more than to share in discourse with the creature, trading epic tales and enticing mannerisms. This post-Shift Earth was proving quite the spiritually fortuitous playground.

by Evan White at February 10 Thursday 10:02 pm EST

Perched on the fire escape of a tall brick building, Evan had a small sense of falling and weaving as his feet balanced on the far metal handrail of the fire escape overlooking the street. As he balanced, Evan's eyes intently stared through his binoculars, as sweat beaded down his forehead, toward the dark shadow of what appeared to be a man as it laid upon the rooftop across the street. huge and looming. He could almost feel a dark presence pulse from around it, whether it be his own imagination or a true evil that emulated from the beast. Evan knew this thing, a notorious human hunter, and as Evan saw it, a huge threat. Usually, fighting for what was right brought confidence to him, but today even his legs shook as he replayed the terrible stories in his head of the ****, death, and destruction this thing had caused. Evan, though he thought it his duty to end such things of maljustice from the world he’d set out to create, had many second- and third-thoughts about this. This man was dangerous, and hardly someone Evan would like to **** with if he did not need to.

Slowly and quietly, not to make any noise, Evan dropped the binoculars from his face to let them swing loosely from his neck, pulled the jackrabbit mask down from his head to cover his face, and stood up on the bar, pivoting on his foot and jumping as he grabbed for the next story of the escape, pulling himself up, then repeating the pattern until his body felt a heavy wind as he reached the roof of the five-story building. Evan lied on the ledge of the roof, attempting to blend his dark clothing into the shadows, just waiting for the beast to strike as he laid his hands behind his head.

His wait was brief; A sudden, squealish screaming tore his mind from the bowels of sleepiness and scared him into an accidental state of intense agility and reflexes. "****!" Evan whispered to himself, the word seeming to come out somewhat more slowly than he said it, and he looked up over the ledge to see what had happened. Inside the alleyway beside the building next to Auzdein, a dark stain had formed on the ground and walls of the alley; a kind of stain which Evan knew at that second to be of gore flying every which way. His heart pounded in his chest, quickly but seemingly in slow motion to Evan. He could not see what or who had caused it, but he did see Auzdein as he stood and looked over the ledge, and whatever had caused the gore seemed to interest him. Evan turned back and lied down on the roof, hoping not for unwanted eyes. He closed his own, hoping to drown out the screams still in his mind, but told himself that he must move now or Auzdein might become more powerful than Evan could ever hope to kill. With that, he stood, and jumped east off the roof to hit the wall of the alleyway, sliding down it, jumping to the opposite one, and continuing ‘til he landed on the ground level with an audible grunt.

Auzdein Stood atop the roof across the street now, and Evan could see what interested him so. He was talking to what seemed like a young girl... coated in an ocean of blood. With but a single look, Evan grabbed his .45 from his belt, knowing not whether to be more afraid of his enemy or the girl.

Catalypse cocked her head to the side and slowly started to stand, her muscles like rip-wire cords along her frame; so think she was yet still silky smooth of lithe muscle. She gave a devious purr as Auz complimented her again and again. She had only ever received comments similar to these from Mother. She rolled one shoulder and its wing stretched as she did so. The talons on the elbow of her wing twitched and clenched, dripping with blood, as well. Catalypse was unsure what all his pretty words truly meant, but she was a curious breed, and of course if she felt the whim to do one thing or the other... she simply did it.

He wanted her name... That was easy. She gave an innocent giggle that echoed about the alley, not from simply bouncing off surfaces, but seemingly by starting in one place and then picking up somewhere else. Her giggles were like sweet wind chimes tinkling in the breeze. She finally lifted a hand and watched as her talons shrank and returned to fingers drenched in blood. She licked the surface of one hand in a gesture almost feline-like, then her amber eyes returned to his brown ones, and she sighed out her name for him to hear behind him again.

"Mine name is Catalypse Veau... Child of Pillar, Will of Sword, Siren of the End Times...," her voice shifted and she cast it forward again, this time making it seem to be drawing upon Auz's mind like the caresses of a sweet lover; an innocent being that simply asked you to do as it pleased. An impression of coming to her firmly planted itself in his subconscious, however with Metas, she never could tell if the impression would stick and make him come to her, or simply be irritatingly ignored. "Come down here..." she purred.

She was unaware of Evan, as he was outside of her hearing and scenting range. Plus, with the added noise from the streets down the way, she couldn't pick up such small noises. Jack seemed to be quite the sneaky one. And for now, Catalypse did not seem to notice him at all. She stood tall, her wings aligning with her spine and folding along her back while her tail with its feathered end flicked to and fro behind her. Again she moved almost too much like a cat.

Auz was greatly enjoying her voice tricks until they entered his mind. Feeling crossed beyond measure, a black rage bubbled forth, hissing and steaming and clawing at his sanity from every direction deep within. His body tensed up, all its muscles rippling in the tremor of hate, and the voice was expelled from his mind. His vision was suddenly washed with and shaded a brooding purple, and electric bolts were now coursing through his nervous system, steeling his fingers for the penetration of any flesh he could get a grip on and mangle. Calves contracted like pistons firing; his body revving its musculature engines to "do the deed" again.

Through gritted teeth he erupted snarling, "I cast you kind words and this is how you repay meeEEE!!" Always one to assume the worst case scenario and resort to excessive force before it could be executed upon him, his face was already contorted like a rabid wolf's, as if he had been possessed by himself. His words spat forth with remarkable eloquence, crispness, and trembling fury. Before he could leap into the offensive, however, his senses detected something. There was faint movement and subtle color changes out of the corner of his eye, then the sharp whisper that carried through the night air swiftly on the colder currents: "****!", and the hairs on the back of his neck stood up and it wasn't from squaring off with a devious Siren; the third person had appeared on his metaphorical radar.

Auz flashed a black glare down at the Siren, opting to deal with her in a moment (and hopefully, albeit unlikely in his opinion, determine that their sudden fallout was due to a cultural and linguistic misunderstanding), and spun on his heal, crouching forward and down slightly with fingers and thumbs bolting open and contorting before relaxing in preparation for an attack. "What treachery is this..?" he growled low and softly to himself. He then called out for all to hear, "Make yourself known, hunter! Let us trade names as gentlemen before we deal with Death and The Fates!"

He saw the silhouette of a black clad human(oid?) return to the prone on another rooftop across the vehicle path, then get up again and make its way down to the ground level. 'Ahhhh,' he smiled as his thought formed, 'a fellow practitioner of parkour. Vunderbarrr.' Had it not seen him looking? Had it assumed Auz was calling out blindly into the night? His gauntlets were already streaming the prioritized data to him as they studied the concealed person through his eyes and their more numerous equivalents.

The figure drew a pistol. Warning icons and outlines appeared around it in his mind's eye, highlighting and identifying it for him. Auz dove into a roll, moving laterally behind the cover of another ledge. His pistol was already drawn, silencer being screwed rapidly on until it sat flush and snuggly with the barrel and upper receiver's nose. He called out a second time, remaining behind the ledge, "What say you?, polarized stran-ger! State your purpose or be matched!"

Despite his Tauran rage having returned full force to command him, his calming effect was still, as always, in action, and he wondered for a split second if it was keeping the Siren from using more of her seduction powers, and/or the other person from using its gun. Overall, he was back in his element and having fun. The anger was just part of his signature reactive mix.
